Adult Ministries

Various activities and ministries are available for adults to be involved socially and in the life of the church at Almonesson United Methodist Church. We have an active Women's Group and Men's Group, as well as Adult Choir, Bible Studies, and a Prayer Shawl Ministry. Scroll down for more details on each.

Adult Bible Study

We gather on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. to fellowship, share, and learn together. We begin by sharing "How have you seen God's presence this week?" and "How is it with your soul?" We then follow with discussion of the different means of grace, or ways that we can cultivate God's Spirit in our lives. All are welcome to come and join regardless of Biblical knowlege or lack of. This is an informal gathering with no prior reading or study required.

 Men’s & Women’s Groups

We have active United Methodist Women’s and United Methodist Men’s groups, which meet regularly to fellowship, grow spiritually, and reach out in mission to the community and world. All are welcome!

United Methodist Women ~ Meet regularly on the second Monday evening of each month at 7:30. The UMW sponsors various activities and events throughout the year such as the Election Day Bazaar, Holy Thursday Agape Meal, and the Mother & Daughter Banquet. All women of the church and community are invited to take part!

United Methodist Women Mission Statement  The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

United Methodist Women in Mission   United Methodist Women is a nearly 1 million member-strong organization of women who seek to know God and to make life better for women, children, youth and marginalized neighbors in the ever-expanding global village of today's world.  United Methodist Women members meet in their local churches, during their lunch break at work, after classes on their college campuses and even online.  However they choose to gather, members create a supportive community that nurtures their spiritual growth journeys and provides opportunities for:

  • Leadership development
  • Study of issues impacting their neighborhoods, nation and world;
  • Participation in informed advocacy and actions
  • Financial support of institutions and projects empowering women, children and youth in the United States and around the world.

United Methodist Men ~ Meet regularly on the second Saturday morning of each month for breakfast at the church, followed by their meeting. This is a new group which has several mission and community projects in the planning. All men (including teens) of the church and community are invited to come on out for a great meal and fellowship!

 United Methodist Men Mission Statement The mission of the United Methodist Men is to assist men to know Jesus Christ, to serve Him, to grow spiritually and seek daily to do his will.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Our Prayer Shawl Ministry meets on the first Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. Knitted and crocheted Prayer Shawls are made for people in need of prayer who are lifted up throughout the creation of the shawl.  When the shawl is completed it is blessed in our Sanctuary before being given to the intended recipient. Regardless of your skill level, you are invited to come and join us in this powerful ministry!

Adult Choir

Make a Joyful Noise! Adult Choir (God's Choir) meets on Thursday evenings at 7:30 for practice. Regardless of your singing ability (or perceived lack of), come out and join the fun. Remember, it's not the quality of the gift that we bring to God, it's the sincerity of the giver in bringing that gift! Come out and share God's gifts and be blessed at the same time. If you have any questions, contact our Choir Director, Lorna Mae Palma.
